How I can help ↗

THE QUESTIONS I CAN HELP WITH

Which places deserve more of your time?

For independent travelers who want
help deciding, then the freedom to explore.

01

“Is my route too much?”

Decide whether an overnight stop adds enough to justify packing again, and how extending one part of the route would change the following day.

02

“Where should we base ourselves?”

Compare each hotel base with your planned outings, onward transport and evening meals before you decide where to stay.

03

“How will this work on the ground?”

Work out what you need to set up before landing, which bookings need your passport and what to save offline.

MEET JOE FU / YOUR PLANNER

Chengdu roots.
A traveler's perspective.

I'm Joe Fu, born and raised in Chengdu, where I spent nearly 20 years. Six years in the US and travels across more than 20 countries help me understand the questions that come with arriving somewhere unfamiliar.

I’ll help you decide which places deserve an overnight stay, where to base yourself and what to leave out of a short trip.

SIMULATED CONSULTATION / NOT A CLIENT CASE

Four days. Too many choices.
How do you pace it?

A US couple wants Chengdu’s everyday life,
but also a taste of the surrounding region.

They have four full days and want tea, food and neighborhood time, yet worry about missing a nearby place such as Leshan. Should they return to the same room after every outing, or give one destination an evening of its own?

OPTION A / ONE BASE

Stay in Chengdu.

Keep one hotel and make each selected outing a return trip from the city. Less packing, but potentially more backtracking.

OPTION B / ONE MOVE

Stay outside the city for one night.

Group the surrounding visits into one extension, then return. One check-out, but an evening and morning beyond the city.

For this simulated brief, I recommend Option B. The couple wants an evening outside the city and has two connected outings in mind. One well-placed night can avoid repeating a transfer and protect their Chengdu days. I would confirm the full route before committing; a single short outing may favor Option A instead.

BEFORE YOU GET IN TOUCH

A few useful answers.

What does the planning service cover?

My planning focuses on Chengdu and selected destinations in greater Sichuan, shaped around your interests and time. Before any paid work begins, we will confirm if your itinerary falls within my area of expertise.

How much does it cost?

You can choose a focused private consultation or a full custom itinerary. Quotes depend on the complexity of your trip. The fee is fully prepaid and non-refundable once research begins. Your fee includes two rounds of substantive revisions; additional rounds are billed at $40 each.

What would I receive?

For a custom itinerary, you will receive a daily structure, transport logic, recommended stay areas, and booking timing. We provide hotel advice and area recommendations, but we do not book or manage hotel reservations. The format is agreed before payment. Please see the simulated consultation for an example of the structure.
